Thomas Cera
Thomas Cera is the president and owner of South Shore Metals LLC Consulting Services, providing professional services and guidance to investors, executives and operators through his over 30 years of experience in the US steel industry, most recently as the Vice President and General Manager of RG Steel LLC. In his role, Tom was responsible for two integrated steel plants, a coke manufacturing plant and a subsidiary steel products company.
Thomas has extensive experience with steel products manufacturing at several large global manufacturing companies. From 2007 to 2009 he worked for OAO Severstal as Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for all North American operations, including four integrated steel plants, quality, engineering and operations planning for 10 million tons of annual capacity and $10 billion of annualized revenues.
From 2003 to 2007, Tom held the position of Plant Manager of Hot Rolling and Finishing Operations and also as Vice President of Plate and Rail Products at ArcelorMittal. He was responsible for manufacturing and sales for the plate, rail, bloom, bar and ingot product lines of the company. He successfully combined the plate businesses of U. S. Steel Corporation and International Steel Group into the largest, most diverse of its kind in the United States. Prior to his experience at ArcelorMittal, he held various management positions with increasing responsibility at US Steel Corporation for 23 years, which included coke making, hot rolling, tin products, sheet products finishing and coating and plate products.
Thomas has led numerous problem solving efforts that have led to improved safety, environmental, quality, reliabity, productivity and service improvements including world record hot strip mill production, facility safety records, unit quality records and market gains due to service and reliability improvements.
Thomas also provides industry knowledge to existing and potential investors in the metals and mining segments. He has conducted benchmarking globally in numerous countries including China, India, Japan, Korea, Australia, India, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and Europe.
